Group Training/Closed Enrollments (IC Closed Enrollment Group Training)
What’s the difference between an Open Enrollment and a Closed Enrollment class?
Open Enrollments (OE)
This training is offered to the entire NIH community, providing the benefit of wider networking opportunities with participants across all NIH ICs. They are offered frequently throughout the year.
Closed Enrollments (CE)
This training is exclusively for an IC and their employees. A majority of classes in the NIHTC Course Catalog can be offered as Closed Enrollment offerings for your IC.
Group Training/Closed Enrollment(CE) Requirements:
| Attendance: | A minimum number of 20 participants are required for most Closed Enrollments. However, several Closed Enrollments are conducted with fewer participants. |

| Cost: | Similar to open enrollment class tuition, there is a cost associated with closed enrollment offerings, which varies per course. |
| Timeframe: | A lead time of at least 8-10 weeks is required prior the training to allow for scheduling and logistics. |
| Promotion: | Each IC should create a plan on how to market the training to their staff. |
My IC meets the requirements for a Group Training/Closed Enrollment. Now what?
- Review the NIHTC NIHTC Course Calendar to determine if the training of interest is being offered as an Open Enrollment. The NIHTC Team can assist with registering your IC employees in the Open Enrollment class.
- Review the NIHTC Course Catalog for training offered as a Group Training/Closed Enrollment. See list below.
- Complete the Group Training/Closed Enrollment Inquiry Form and we will contact you. This form is required to learn more about IC’s training and development needs. Completing the form does not guarantee approval to conduct a Group Training/Closed Enrollment class.
- Not sure if a Group Training/Closed Enrollment is the right choice, simply email us at the NIHTrainingCenter@nih.gov with your questions.
- Some classes are offered as Group Training/Closed Enrollment only. To better accommodate the NIH Community this year, specific classes that are in high demand will no longer be offered as Closed Enrollments. Please review them below.
- Contact the Group Training/Closed Enrollment Program Manager at NIHTC-GroupTraining@nih.gov for any additional information or schedule time during office hours.
