Pathways for Students and Recent Graduates

Opportunities and Students and Recent Graduates

Join the world’s largest biomedical research agency in one of NIH’s many programs for students and recent graduates. Our internship and entry-level positions provide unique Pathways into scientific and administrative careers.

On December 27, 2010, President Obama issued an Executive order on recruiting and hiring students and recent graduates into the federal government. The NIH is seeking to recruit highly motivated and talented individuals to fill entry level positions. Whether you are a current student or recent graduate, you can find a career opportunity at NIH.

Students and the NIH

As the world’s largest biomedical research agency, the NIH offers valuable work experience for students to contribute to and support research designed to enhance the health of the nation. With a variety of program areas, student trainee positions, and entry-level career options, the NIH seeks the best and brightest students and recent graduates to bring their knowledge and skills to our diverse workforce.

Opportunities at Every Level

The NIH offers opportunities through the Federal Pathways program designed to give students and recent graduates at every level a dynamic experience. The NIH’s Pathways Program offers three “paths” to student employment. Explore the sections below to find out more.
