Key Information
Strategic Workforce Planning aligns the workforce with NIH’s goals by analyzing supply and demand, identifying gaps, and guiding targeted talent interventions. It ensures the workforce directly supports the organization's long-term goals and strategic objectives, while aligning factors such as people, skills, positions, resources, and timing.
Workforce planning involves six key steps:
- Strategic Direction – Define mission goals and workforce alignment.
- Supply Analysis – Review the current workforce and projected changes.
- Demand Analysis – Forecast future workforce needs.
- Gap Analysis – Identify gaps and risks between supply and demand.
- Solution Implementation – Apply strategies to close workforce gaps.
- Monitoring Progress – Track and measure results.
