We’re On the Move!

The NIH Training Center (NIHTC) is moving the Rockledge facility to 11601 Landsdown Street in Rockville. We’re excited about our new home, which is adjacent to the White Flint Metro Station! Having our facility in a well-connected area of Rockville means you can enjoy a top-quality training class and a wide range of walkable lunch options. Our newly designed training space will also feature the latest in audio-visual technology to enhance your learning experience -- whether you are an on-site or remote learner. You’ll be able to reach us by shuttle, metro, and car. Note - the NIHTC second location on campus in Natcher (Building 45) remains unchanged.

Here’s what you should know.

The NIH Training Center (NIHTC) will be relocating its Rockledge classrooms to 11601 Landsdown Street. Classes and programs will continue at the Natcher location (Building 45) without any disruptions.

This will accommodate the pending moves of various OD and IC offices to the Rockledge complex, the NIH Training Center will also move as part of this major NIH transition. We’re excited about the new White Flint facility, which we’ve  designed with the latest in technology and comfort for you.

The new address of the NIH Training Center will be 11601 Landsdown Streetlocated in Rockville. You’ll have multiple dining options within walking distance including the new Pike and Rose development.

Our move will occur in July. Check back frequently for updates.

Know Before You Go

Metro Rail - Metro is the most convenient form of transportation to our 11601 Landown Street NIHTC location. The White Flint stop is only two stops from the NIH main campus on the Red Line.  

Shuttle - Information coming soon.

Driving - The White Flint Metro station parking garage is the closest to us. You must have a Smart Trip card to exit the garage, so we will advise registered students to request a Smart Trip card from their office before attending our classes. The fee for non-rider parking is $8.70 per day. Another option for parking is across the street at the Bethesda North Marriott, 5701 Marinelli Road, Rockville, MD. The fee for parking in their lot is $2.50 an hour, up to $30 maximum per day.

FAQs

Question:If I forget my NIH Badge, will I still be able to attend class?
Answer:

Yes, however you will have to go through the building security which involves a bag check and metal detector. This can take several minutes longer than using the NIH Badge holders gate at entry.

Question:Will the NIH Training Center still have a location on the NIH main campus?
Answer:

Yes, in addition to the White Flint location, training will continue at the NIH Building 45, Natcher on the main campus.

Question:Will there be dedicated shuttle service to White Flint?
Answer:

There will be shuttle service from the NIH campus to White Flint. The details are still being worked on. We will update as soon as possible.

Question:Since this is a federal building, will security measures increase?
Answer:

There is increased security as this is a Federal building. With an NIH badge, you will be directed to enter through the NIH turnstile. The dedicated entrance is designed to expedite your arrival to the NIH Training Center.

Question:Will new security measures slow down the process of getting to class?
Answer:

We suggest arriving fifteen minutes early and be sure to bring your NIH badge with you. This will allow the entry process to move along smoothly.

Answer:

Yes, the restrooms are just outside the NIH Training Center.

Answer:

Yes, there is a laptop lounge for students.

Question:How do I get a Metro Smartrip?
Answer:

You can obtain a Metro SmartTrip card from your Administrative Officer (AO) to use for either the Metro garage or the White Flint metro.

Question:How much is parking in the Metro parking lot? [Parking Only vs. Riding]
Answer:

The cost for the Metro garage is $8.70 per day if you are only parking, and not riding the metro.

Question:Is there a convenience store located on the premises?
Answer:

Yes, directly outside of the NIH Training Center. It is equipped with coffee and snacks.

Question:Will there be lactation services for nursing mothers? Is there a reservation needed in advance?
Answer:

Yes, the lactation room is located on the third floor.

Question:What places are around the new location for food and coffee?
Answer:

A convenience store is next to the NIH Training Center. There are many eateries within walking distance of the building on Rockville Pike and at the Pike & Rose location.
