Management Intern Program (MI)

Purpose

The NIH Management Intern (MI) Program was established in 1957 to develop cadres of administrative professionals. Since its inception, the Management Intern Program has offered key resources, targeted training, and hands-on experience to motivated NIH employees interested in pursuing a career in administration and management. Graduates have become some of NIH's most respected administrative managers, including Executive Officers, Administrative Officers, Grants Management Officers, Budget Officers, Human Resource Managers, and Contracting Officers.

Program Features and Structure

This highly competitive program offers a few outstanding NIH employees the two-year opportunity to rotate through different administrative career fields, gain invaluable insight into the NIH, and develop a vital network of administrative professionals across NIH. Program features include access to a senior-level mentor, an individual training budget, an opportunity to participate in challenging projects and committees, and face-to-face interactions with NIH leaders. It is no wonder that this program has such a rich history in developing future administrative professionals and leaders.
