Medicare Enrollments
Most people cannot enroll for Medicare prior to age 65. You are encouraged to apply for benefits 3 months prior to your 65th birthday, but you are not required to enroll in Medicare. Most Federal employees and annuitants are entitled to Medicare Part A at age 65 without cost. Refer to OPM’s Medicare page for detailed information about other Medicare options.
If you have Medicare, are still working and enrolled in FEHB, your FEHB coverage is your primary insurance. Once you retire, your Medicare becomes your primary insurance.
