Grants Management Specialist Positions Opening Soon at NIAID

Job Summary

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest Institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is seeking to fill upcoming vacancies for several grants management specialist positions in the Grants Management Program (GMP) in the Division of Extramural Activities (DEA), located at the Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, Montana. RML is located in the scenic Bitterroot Valley of western Montana with easy access to some of the best hiking, skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, and trout fishing in North America.

GMP is responsible for the administrative management of all NIAID extramural grant support of research and research training. GMP also interprets grants policies as they relate to the grant award process and advises scientific program staff on the full range of technical grants management issues. Highly motivated, talented, and qualified candidates can join the NIAID scientific and administrative staff, who quickly address evolving public health needs. On a day-to-day basis, grants management specialists participate in the planning and business management of grants and renewal applications, including the negotiation of the budget, award period, and terms and conditions for grant awards; monitor all phases of awards through closing; and evaluate budget justifications and financial arrangements to ensure responsible stewardship of funds. Additionally, on-the-job training is provided to supplement the knowledge base needed to perform the daily responsibilities.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens. Candidates with good communication skills and the ability to analyze data are preferred.
