Job Posting: Staff Clinician - Vaccine Research Center

Summary

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the largest institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and part of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. NIAID is seeking a highly motivated physician-investigator to serve as a staff clinician in clinical research for the Clinical Trials Program (CTP) within the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) in Bethesda, Maryland. The VRC is dedicated to improving human health through the conduct of research to prevent infectious causes of acute and chronic disease. Duties

The successful candidate will lead the development, implementation, and conduct of innovative clinical research protocols that aim to evaluate new vaccines or monoclonal antibodies developed for the prevention or treatment of infectious diseases. Responsibilities will include management of ongoing protocols for VRC clinical studies at the NIH Clinical Center. The physician will also mentor clinical staff—including fellows, nurses, and students—and ensure that clinical protocols are conducted in accordance with ethical and regulatory requirements and guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• M.D., M.D./Ph.D, or equivalent
• Board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Infectious Diseases, American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and/or the American Board of Internal Medicine
• Permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state of the United States
• Meets the credentialing requirements of the NIH Clinical Center
