Summary

As a Program Analyst or early-career professional in a similar role, you may contribute to analysis and evaluation work that helps agencies understand how programs, operations, organizations, or management functions are performing. Your work may include research, data collection, program analysis, workflow review, internal controls, reporting, recommendations, and process improvement.

Duties

Representative duties may include:

  • Apply research methods to analyze and evaluate how programs, operations, organizations, or management functions are working.
  • Support projects and studies focused on management practices, workflows, internal controls, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze data to support tracking, reporting, forecasting, and informed decision-making.
  • Help plan and coordinate research or data analysis activities, including interpreting findings and reporting results.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, briefing materials, meeting summaries, or other work products for leadership or stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve customer experience, and strengthen results.
  • Use spreadsheets, collaboration platforms, dashboards, automation, or approved AI-enabled tools, where authorized, to support research, drafting, summarization, data organization, reporting, and workflow improvement.
  • Review digital or AI-assisted outputs for accuracy, completeness, relevance, and appropriate use before incorporating them into official work.

Depending on the hiring agency, you may also use digital tools, dashboards, automation, and approved AI-enabled tools to summarize materials, organize data, identify patterns, draft preliminary findings, support analysis, and strengthen service delivery. Applicants do not need to be AI experts, but should be comfortable learning new tools, using technology responsibly, and adapting to a changing work environment.
