Duties

As a Management Intern, you will work in various functional rotations in a variety of NIH administrative management areas for two years. Program features also include access to a senior-level mentor, an individual training budget, an opportunity to participate in challenging projects and committees, and face-to-face interactions with NIH leaders. You will develop an Individual Development Plan (IDP). The plan will specify developmental assignments involving on-the-job training and formal training courses. You will participate in a variety of training and discussion groups and receive classroom education to support and augment your development. Your Performance Management Appraisal Plan (PMAP) will cover each year of the training period. The plan will specify the performance goals for each year based on developmental assignments and work goals. You will gain qualifying experience in a target position at the NIH. You will be required, with the assistance of your mentor, to locate a position, upon completing the program. Placement in the target position will require at least a Fully Successful rating for each year of the training period. At the end of the training program, you will work with your mentor to find an appropriate placement in an Institute's administrative organization.
