Summary

The incumbent will serve as a senior Information Technology (IT) Specialist (Policy and Planning), and report to the Information Technology Policy and Review Office (ITPRO) Director. The incumbent will lead and perform major Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) policy-related activities including Section 508 oversight, legislative review and evaluation, and oversight of special projects requested by the ITPRO Director, OCIO Deputy Director or NIH Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Duties

• Advise and consult senior leadership on new or revised federal policy, standards, guidance, regulations (including information security policy) and federal mandates that have significant impact on the NIH mission, IT operations, and management.
• Lead the NIH Section 508 Program, and provides direction on critical activities related to ensuring Section 508 compliance and the accessibility of IT resources.
• Exercise responsibility for researching, monitoring, analyzing, and tracking new or pending federal legislation that has a potential impact on current NIH IT activities (e.g., IT workforce development, privacy, IT security, IT acquisitions, etc.).
• Oversee a variety of IT-related projects, studies, assessments, activities, and analyses to effectively manage NIH IT resources and investments.
• Provide management support to senior leadership on activities focused on effectively managing and protecting IT resources and systems to support the achievement of Health and Human Services (HHS) and NIH IT goals.
