Summary
Join the Clinical Center as Operations Manager of the DPM and help advance groundbreaking clinical research! The ideal candidate has experience supporting the operational management of a perioperative environment, overseeing perioperative equipment life cycles and is familiar with operating room (OR) software systems and OR integration platform technology. In this role, you will advise on strategic direction and lead key initiatives and projects to facilitate the missions of the DPM.
Duties
As a Program Specialist (Operations Manager), you will perform the following duties at the full performance GS-13 grade level: Contribute to establishing the Department's strategic direction by identifying and advancing key goals, objectives, and initiatives. Support the development and implementation of Department-wide policies, procedures, and operational standards to promote consistency, effectiveness, and alignment with organizational priorities. Lead and support special projects and serve on multidisciplinary teams to address operational priorities, emerging issues, and Departmental initiatives. Promote a culture of safety by ensuring patient and staff safety standards, policies, and requirements are effectively implemented and consistently followed. Assess staff and organizational performance in achieving established goals and objectives, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and compliance with Clinical Center policies and regulatory requirements. Implement budget strategies that align resources with Departmental priorities and organizational objectives. Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations to inform decision-making at the Department, Clinical Center, and NIH levels. Monitor the delivery of high-quality customer service to DPM patients receiving anesthesia and operative care, ensuring the timeliness, quality, and scope of services effectively meet patient and operational needs. Evaluate and respond to complaints, suggestions, and requests regarding perioperative services, elevating if necessary. Ensure staff are appropriately trained in the use of equipment, technology, and information systems that support Departmental workflows and anesthesia care, including operating room video and imaging systems. Serve as a member of the Department's management team, collaborating with senior medical, nursing, administrative, and other key staff to advance Departmental priorities and operations. Coordinate with stakeholders regarding operating room integration systems (e.g., StreamConnect, POIS) and operating room imaging software, communicating system updates and changes in policies or protocols to DPM and OR Nursing staff, gathering user feedback, and facilitating the resolution of technology-related issues. Consult with the Chief of the Department on the maintenance, servicing, and operational readiness of DPM equipment. Collaborate with vendors and evaluate new equipment, technologies, and software to assess their potential impact on clinical care, research protocols, emerging techniques, and organizational performance. Develop recommendations regarding acquisitions that support the needs and priorities of the Department and Clinical Center. If selected at the GS-11 or GS-12 grade level, you will essentially perform the same duties as those described above; however, duties will be less complex and will be performed under closer supervision with more detailed guidance.
