Summary
This position is located in the Laboratory of Neurogenetics (LNG), National Institute on Aging (NIA), NIH. LNG is a highly collaborative research group that investigates the basis of neurodegenerative diseases using genetics, genomics, cell biology, disease modeling, and computational approaches.
Duties
The duties for this position include, but not limited to the following: Serves as the lead on large-scale genetic and genomic data generation, quality control, and dissemination efforts. The position includes responsibility for the planning, design, and execution of genomic and genetic data production efforts, including the testing and evaluation of new state-of-the-art genetic technologies. Provides high-throughput genomic data services to members of LNG and collaborating laboratories, in addition to providing training in data generation. Directs, designs, and organizes the Laboratory's high-content, high-throughput genomic data production program, established to promote investigation into the basis of neurodegenerative disease and related traits. The incumbent dedicates 50% of their weekly responsibilities to leading the genomic research program. This is a Code 4 supervisory position. Although supervising others is not a major duty, it may be performed up to 25% of the time. Planning and implementing major high-throughput, high-content genetics and genomics experiments and acts as project manager of large-scale, multi-year research projects in the space of genomic technology applications. Provides expert advice and guidance to researchers and program officials throughout NIA and the NIH on a wide variety of matters related to large-scale genomic data production and quality control, including providing advice and experience on new technological developments in data production, quality control, storage, and dissemination.
