Job Posting: Pharmacist (Oncology/Hematology-Satellite)

Summary

This position is located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC), Pharmacy Department within the Pharmacy Operations Service in the Oncology/Hematology Satellite. The Satellite Pharmacy provides clinical pharmacy services to inpatients and ambulatory oncology/hematology patients and supports investigational drug development and trials by providing authoritative advice on the medication aspects of research protocols.

Duties

The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Clinical Pharmacist with extensive sterile compounding experience and expertise providing pharmaceutical care to complex, oncology and hematology patients to include the monitoring of investigational studies for compliance with research protocols; reviewing drug therapy for proper drug selection, rational indications, dosing, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, IV incompatibilities, and complications of multiple drug therapies; and providing ongoing education to physicians, nurses, and pharmacists on pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, and other aspects of drug therapy. As a Pharmacist with the NIH Clinical Center's Pharmacy Department, your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Providing pharmaceutical care to a complex, specialized patient population Actively collaborate with in-house staff and clinical researchers in the design and implementation of research protocols, collection of data, and in analysis and interpretation of results. Monitoring active investigational studies to ensure policies concerning use of investigational drugs are being followed. Serving as authoritative consultant with direct interaction and communication with patients to obtain complete drug histories. Designing, conducting and participating in drug utilization studies, audits and evaluations. Serving as pharmacy liaison with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff on units to resolve drug related problems. Designing and conducting interdisciplinary educational programs in the area of drug therapy. Interfacing with physicians in the design of drug treatment plans. Evaluating drug literature in order to compare and contrast therapeutic regimens and uses for new and existing pharmaceutical products. Researching and answering complicated drug information questions.
