Summary

The NIH Clinical Center Pharmacy is seeking an exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Pharmacist for its Outpatient Section. The incumbent of this position will serve as a Pharmacist in the Pharmacy Operations Section supporting hospital pharmacy services.

Duties

An ideal candidate for the pharmacist working in the Outpatient section would be someone exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated to: (1) provide pharmaceutical care to outpatients and inpatients preparing for discharge, (2) provide comprehensive medication counseling and drug information, (3) review and verify prescriptions while ensuring research protocol compliance, (4) handle and dispense controlled and investigational drugs, (5) utilize automation and will call bin management to streamline workflows and speed up the filling process (6) provide compassionate customer service, (6) apply knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations including FDA and DEA requirements as well as Joint Commission standards. As a Pharmacist with the NIH Clinical Center's Pharmacy Department, your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Providing pharmaceutical care to a complex, specialized patient population Actively collaborate with in-house staff and clinical researchers in the design and implementation of research protocols, collection of data, and in analysis and interpretation of results. Monitoring active investigational studies to ensure policies concerning use of investigational drugs are being followed. Serving as authoritative consultant with direct interaction and communication with patients to obtain complete drug histories. Designing, conducting and participating in drug utilization studies, audits and evaluations. Serving as pharmacy liaison with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other staff on units to resolve drug related problems. Designing and conducting interdisciplinary educational programs in the area of drug therapy. Interfacing with physicians in the design of drug treatment plans. Evaluating drug literature in order to compare and contrast therapeutic regimens and uses for new and existing pharmaceutical products. Researching and answering complicated drug information questions.
