Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Supervisory Nurse (GS-14) to lead our 12-bed Adult Intensive Care Unit and our new 3-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), scheduled to open in January 2027. This Nurse Manager will be instrumental in shaping the future of our critical care services. The Supervisory Nurse, (Nurse Manager) will oversee clinical operations, patient safety, and quality outcomes across both the Adult ICU and the new Pediatric ICU.

Duties

The GS-14 Supervisory Nurse (Nurse Manager) position is open in the specified clinical specialty area: Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care Units The ideal candidate will possess prior experience leading adult ICU, PICU, or mixed-acuity programs, building high performing teams, determining resource requirements, and supporting a research-intensive practice environment. BSN/MSN or MS in a related field preferred. Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing administration and nursing practice for the critical care units. Identifying short term and long-term program goals in conjunction with departmental objectives, organizational strategic plan and annual operating budget. Supervising clinical, administrative and clerical staff, through subordinate clinical leaders, on activities related to research protocols and specialty programs. Ensuring competency completion related to program of care. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with medical and clinical staff, institute stakeholders and research participants. Serving as an expert resource in adult and pediatric critical care nursing, pediatric research, and complex health-related issues within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Collaborating with Clinical Center department leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and institute leadership to identify operational and patient care needs, drive organizational improvements, and develop strategies that support high-acuity adult and pediatric critical care services and research initiatives.
