Job Posting: Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist
Summary
The incumbent of this position serves as the Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist with programmatic and supervisory responsibility for the planning, provisioning, requirements determination, distribution, accountability, and ultimate issue of medical consumption, retention, or disposal of medical surgical supplies and equipment used for patient care and research in the NIH Clinical Center. This includes the inpatient and outpatient environments and all ancillary departments.
Duties
Independently conducts complex requirements analysis for NIH CC customers in order for them to procure required medical surgical supplies considering many factors such as research needs, performance of the products, ability of vendors to deliver timely, storage requirements, shelf life, etc. Advises high level officials on supply requirements and procurement management impacts on the program. Independently develops and recommends justifications for items that are priced higher than competitive prices and, when necessary, confers with scientific and/or technical specialists to get a better understanding of the requirements. Ensures that commodities ordered are in alignment with allocated budgets and make recommendations for cost saving initiatives by reviewing reports. Recommends options to improve operational performance towards reducing cost and becoming more efficient; analysis impact of various regulations on the MMES operations such as the impact of information and technology on supply operations and medical equipment.
