Duties

As a Supervisory Technical Information Specialist, you will: Be responsible for the day-to-day first line supervision of professional staff as well as providing oversight to contract staff. Manage the day-to-day operational activities, including establishing short- and long-term goals, operational plans and program direction and priorities for the group. Serve as a national authority and provide authoritative advice and consultation on strategy, design, and user support issues relating to the Literature products, which are used by millions of users throughout the world every day and the NIH Manuscript Submission System that supports the NIH Public Access Policy and supplies articles to PubMed Central (PMC). Serve as the primary liaison between the NCBI Leadership and the Product Owners for Literature products and services. Employ an advanced knowledge of the principles of information systems as well as an expert grasp of the research information being communicated, and advance the NLM public face and reinforces NLM's programs, priorities, and messages by devising and implementing strategies that ensure the delivery of high quality and compelling content to internal and external stakeholders. Develop and implement proposals for coordinating activities with NIH, NLM, NCBI and regional medical libraries to expand services or provide new products. Maintain a knowledge of NLM's major systems and programs so as to present a positive professional image of the Institute to the public and other professionals. Keep abreast of the latest scientific developments in areas related to information systems and the mission of the Institute through attendance at scientific meetings, seminars, lectures, etc.
