Summary

NLM seeks an expert Technical Information Specialist to lead the development and management of NLM terminology products and services (e.g., SNOMED CT, MeSH, UMLS, RxNorm). Responsibilities include overseeing systems development, quality assurance, and production activities; advancing health data and metadata standards; supporting interoperability initiatives; coordinating user support and documentation; and representing NLM in collaborations with stakeholders.

Duties

  • Apply expertise in library procedures, system analysis, and bibliographic standards to solve technical processing problems, improve efficiency, and develop new techniques.
  • Develop and implement modifications to operational and developmental systems with established approvals.
  • Coordinate and provide training for personnel, contractors, library staff, and outside agencies on technical processing systems.
  • Serve as a liaison to computer specialists and a technical resource for integrating data with other library automation projects.
  • Plan and develop contract actions for automation projects, including file conversions and special maintenance activities.
