The NIH Training Center (NIHTC) is committed to supporting accessibility for those attending training. While we provide services directly for large open events, we work with Institutes and Centers on their employees’ regular workday accommodations while attending registered training at the NIHTC, and customize reasonable accommodations accordingly.
Reasonable Accommodations
NIHTC training programs and classes are conducted both in-person and onsite. If you plan to attend an in-person class, feel free to have your interpreter accompany you. Review the NIHTC Location Information for details on parking at our two training facilities.Â
For both virtual and in-person classes, please notify the NIHTrainingCenter@nih.gov at least two weeks before the training if you will need a reasonable accommodation. We are used to working with students in the following ways, or can work with you on a unique need:
- We can provide a link to the virtual platform and alert the class instructor if you are bringing your interpreter. Request an interpreter from ASL Interpreting Services.
- The NIHTC can provide you with advance training materials, if needed, for an upcoming class.
For career and development programs, please notify the NIHTrainingCenter@nih.gov at least three weeks before your first program session begins. As several of our programs take place offsite as well as virtually, we will work closely with you and our instructors on an accommodations plan that works throughout your program participation needs.

Nursing Mothers
If you scheduled to attend an NIHTC class and need a lactation room, please enroll in the Nursing Mothers Program several weeks prior to class. Please note – our White Flint location has a lactation room on the 3rd floor. An NIHTC staff member will escort you as the 3rd floor is locked.
