The Federal Benefits Open Season Ends On Monday, December 9th!

Time is running out!  The Federal Benefits Open Season runs through December 9, 2019.  Don’t miss this opportunity!  If you plan to make an Open Season election, now is the time to do it.  Unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event during the year, the annual Open Season is your only opportunity to enroll, cancel your enrollment, or make a change to your enrollment for the participating programs.

For detailed information about the Benefits Open Season, view the Open Season Announcement.

The three participating programs are:

1) Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program

To enroll, cancel, or change your FEHB enrollment, you must use myPay.*  If you do not submit an election, your current enrollment will automatically continue into 2020, subject to any changes identified in your plan brochure. Even if you are completely satisfied with your current health plan, you should review the 2020 plan brochure to ensure you are aware of all changes, including changes in premiums, coverage offered, and providers.

For 2020, there are several plan options where the enrollee’s share of the premium for the Self Plus One enrollment option will be higher than the Self and Family enrollment option.  Enrollees who wish to cover only one eligible family member are free to elect either the Self Plus One option or the Self and Family option.  Open Season elections will be effective on January 5, 2020.

(*Exception:  If you will be retiring between now and January 4, 2020, do not use myPay to make your Open Season change.  Instead, you must submit a hardcopy Health Benefits Election Form, SF 2809, along with your retirement paperwork to your Benefits Specialist.)

2)  Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP)

To enroll, cancel, or change your FEDVIP enrollment, you must use the BENEFEDS Portal or call 1-877-888-3337 (TTY: 1-877-889-5680).  Your current enrollment will automatically continue into next year, if you do not take any action.  Open Season elections will be effective on January 1, 2020.

3) Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAFEDS) Program

To enroll in an FSA for 2020, you must use the FSAFEDS website or call 1-877-372-3337 (TTY: 1-866-353-8058).  Please note that your current enrollment will not automatically continue into next year.  If you want an account in 2020, you must enroll for 2020 during the Open Season.  Open Season elections will be effective on January 1, 2020.
